SPECIAL ORDERS
The War Department Special Orders were distributed to many of the listed individuals, plus to various offices within the War Department. Those offices would annotate the documents and file them. At some point, there got to be so many that they had them hard-bound for convenience. Our collection comes from a numbers of different offices as seen below.
It is clear they came from individual documents, many of the hand annotations are cropped-off from where the pages were trimmed for binding, plus you can see differences in the page from the side.
They are bound tightly, but we should be about to copy pages on request. Some of the orders contain many pages, but a set for an individual name will consist of the title page, the page with the individual's name, and the last page. Please contact us for prices and details.
